Our Mission

Friends of the Hayward Library is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the programs, services, and resources of the Hayward Public Library. Its mission is to provide funding for items and programs that the Library's City budget cannot cover, helping enrich the educational, cultural, and community experiences of all library users. Funds are raised primarily through book sales and donations. The original Friends of the Hayward Public Library was founded in 1982, and the group was revived in 2026 as Friends of the Hayward Library.
